I have
been directing Galusha Hill Consulting
since 1993, a forum that allows me to share my passion for mathematics
in schools all over the US (and most recently in village schools in Barbados).
Since my 1985 Master's work in math anxiety I have been fascinated with
how children form conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, and
how schools can help students become confident and powerful problem solvers
- skills that go far beyond the math class! For several years my work
has revolved around helping school districts strengthen mathematics programs
through long-range systemic initiatives, considering the perspectives
of the most important players - students, parents, paraprofessionals,
teachers, and administrators. |

At the start of Galusha
Hill Consulting I offered communication, leadership, and team-building
workshops, primarily to public agencies and non-profits. As schools began
to identify these areas for effective professional development, I joined
Jacqueline in designing programs for school districts. A college instructor
since 1980, my primary pedagogical interest has concerned student motivation
and the different learning styles of adults and children. I now teach
a variety of courses online, a medium I find fascinating because it can
address both group and individual needs simultaneously. |
